CityLiveSketch is an artistic project created by Pietro Cataudella, class of 1991, originally from Sicily, now living in Pisa, Tuscany.
The aim of CityLiveSketch is to showcase the beautiful world surrounding us, both the iconic places and the most characteristic views, using not only simple photos but also drawings made on a normal travel sketchbook.
The idea of combining passions for photography and drawing was born in the summer of 2014 in Marzamemi, a small seaside village in south-eastern Sicily, Syracuse.
A simple sketch of the “Balata of Marzamemi”, made on a sketchbook and photographed in front of the scene represented, started a project that would soon reach many new Italian cities (and even more!).
It’s only thanks to continuous practice, consistency, passion and desire to improve the technique of drawing that the simplest sketches have been replaced by more complex drawings which are full of details and whose realization may also require days of work.
During 2016, the desire to continue experimenting with new forms of art and to make even more creative content have led to the creation of a new category of “Fantasy” images, in which the drawing interacts (or even blends) with photography.
Right from the start, CityLiveSketch has attracted the interest of many websites and important newspapers such as La Repubblica, Il Corriere della Sera, The Huffington Post and BBC.
CityLiveSketch has collaborated with famous international brands, such as Adobe, Seat, Land Rover, Campari.
